The Clearmark initiative is supported by Mr. S. Paul on behalf of the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (Voedsel en Waren Autoriteit, VWA), Directorate Inspection Strategy and Communication, Chief Inspectorate Product Safety, the government body in charge of supervising food and product safety. "That such an initiative has been taken in the market can only be applauded in view of the extent of the CE marked products market" according to Mr. Paul. Clearmark intends to plan the periodic product checks of the products registered on its website in consultation with the VWA.
