Risk categories PPE


Category I

This category includes only the following minimal risks:

  1. superficial mechanical injury;
  2. contact with pretty harmless cleaners or prolonged contact with water;
  3. contact with hot surfaces of no more than 50 ºC;
  4. damage to the eyes due to exposure to sunlight (unlike during observation of the sun);
  5. weather conditions which are not of extreme nature.


Category II

This category includes all risks other than those listed in the categories I and III.


Category III

This category includes only those risks that can have very serious consequences, such as death or irreversible damage to health, and relating to the following:

  1. substances and mixtures which are dangerous to health;
  2. breathing air with too little oxygen;
  3. harmful biological agents;
  4. ionising radiation;
  5. hot environment with effects which are comparable to those of an air temperature of at least 100 ° C;
  6. cold environment with effects which are comparable to those of an air temperature of -50 ° C or less;
  7. fall down from a great height;
  8. electric shock, and work under pressure;
  9. drowning;
  10. cuts from chain saws;
  11. high pressure jets;
  12. gunshot wounds or stabbing;
  13. harmful noise.
