Risk categories PPE
Category I
This category includes only the following minimal risks:
- superficial mechanical injury;
- contact with pretty harmless cleaners or prolonged contact with water;
- contact with hot surfaces of no more than 50 ºC;
- damage to the eyes due to exposure to sunlight (unlike during observation of the sun);
- weather conditions which are not of extreme nature.
Category II
This category includes all risks other than those listed in the categories I and III.
Category III
This category includes only those risks that can have very serious consequences, such as death or irreversible damage to health, and relating to the following:
- substances and mixtures which are dangerous to health;
- breathing air with too little oxygen;
- harmful biological agents;
- ionising radiation;
- hot environment with effects which are comparable to those of an air temperature of at least 100 ° C;
- cold environment with effects which are comparable to those of an air temperature of -50 ° C or less;
- fall down from a great height;
- electric shock, and work under pressure;
- drowning;
- cuts from chain saws;
- high pressure jets;
- gunshot wounds or stabbing;
- harmful noise.
